Home Accommodation

The Home Accommodation programme was mandated by the Government of Barbados in its budgetary proposals of 2004, with the aim of facilitating the development of visitor accommodation at a community level, while providing direct economic benefits to these communities.

The programme was officially launched in June 2005 and a meeting of prospective participants was subsequently convened, where approximately 1200 persons attended.  To date the programme has realised the addition of 160 rooms to Barbados’ accommodation room stock.  Additionally, a number of persons have been trained in hospitality and small business related disciplines.  Marketing and a booking engine are provided by the Barbados Tourism Authority, while FundAccess facilitates the disbursement of the $5 million provided by Government for this programme.
